The California Latino Water Coalition in association with the California Latino Capitol Association and the Association of California Water Agencies hosted the first of a series of California Water 101 Briefings for legislative staffers in Sacramento. Water Panelist provided their regional perspectives on water supplies and issues.

The panelist consisted of the following: Timothy Quinn, Association of California Water Agencies, Executive Director; David Guy, Northern California Water Association, President, Northern California; Tom Martinez, Santa Clara Valley Water District, Government Relations Manager; Mario Santoyo, Friant Water Authority, Assistant General Manager; Roger Patterson, Metropolitan Water District, Assistant General Manager; Jay Ziegler, The Nature Conservancy, Director of External Affairs and Policy.

The briefing helped formulate an understanding of the history of California Water as well as today’s current water issues throughout the state.

The next briefing will consist of a field visit to the Sacramento – San Joaquin Delta where legislative staffers will see the problems first hand. The tour will include site visits to both the State and Federal Pumping Stations.
